Name Annunciation Percentage Description
Description:
Viña Reboreda is a blend of the four most prominent indigenous grape varietals of that region. Treixadura is the Galician name for Portugal's white grape Trjadura and the main grape of the Ribeiro. Palomino is a very rare grape of the Ribeiro but is the major grape in the production of sherry. Godello is a rich aromatic grape of the Ribeiro and known as Gouvelo in Portugal. Torrontes is grown to some extent in the Ribeiro but its claim to fame is the prominent white grape varietal of Argentina.
Winery:
Founded in 1940 and owned by the Méndez family, José and his two daughters Ana and Laura. The Méndez family heads one of the most progressive and stable wine firms in Galicia and the largest private Bodega in Spain's D.O. Ribeiro. The vineyards are located on the slopes of the Miño River inland from the D.O. Rías
Baixas near the provincial capital and ancient Roman mining center of Orense. The Rebeiro D.O. is located south of the Bías Baixas right on Portugal's northern border.
Vinification:
Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature for 15 day to ensure the extraction of as much flavor and aroma as possible from the grapes.
Bouquet or Aromas:
Pale yellow to straw color with a greenish hue. Scents of pear and yellow plum on the nose, along with an exotic floral accent. Notes of flint, match book, mineral, tropical fruit and a hint of apple custard, scent of almonds and hay. The aromas of these Spanish wines are exotic and world class in their production, a must to try if you truly want to experience great white wines of the world.
Taste:
Crisp, spicy, light with good depth of apple, pear and stone fruit flavors. Pleasantly dry with a fresh persistent finish. A bit of summer grapefruit notes with that minerally, match book finish. A bit more complex than one would expect from the nose. A wine that develops more richness as it open up. A bit of a sleeper.
Pairings:
This crisp, aromatic dry white wine with a soft finish is appealing on almost any occasion. Terrific with oysters or sushi (especially octopus), yet perfectly suited on its own as a "house wine" alternative to Pinot Gris or Vino Verde. Match with your favorite seafood dish or fish preparation. This wine works well with mild cheeses, pork sausage and chicken dishes.
Cheese Pairing:
Fromager des Clarines
