The oldest vineyard on the estate, named "Il Vigneto di San Lucio", was planted in 1959. The estate is quite large at around 840 acres and is located in the Scalfani countryside between the towns of Palermo and Caltanissatta. The vineyards are scattered about the hillsides at elevation of 1,475 to 2,300 feet. The Catarratto vineyards are about 74 acres in size and were planted between 1979 and 1984. The first vintage, Leone d'Almerita, was in 1967 and is named after the Tasca d'Almerita coat of arms.
