Today, the wine industry has reached an all time high in the proliferation of wines that are what I call vin ordinaire. There are over 800 chards being produced in California alone. How many different flavors can be produced from the Chardonnay grape? Wine is made in the vineyard with tender loving care. The winemaker’s job is to produce that wine into what the varietal is meant to taste and feel like. Winemakers are only the custodians of the vine, with the responsibility of delivering that varietal to the consumer with all the character and flavor that varietal was meant to become. TO THIS END, I have a new, somewhat crazy idea that will open the world of wine to you. It will change your mind set on wine and start you on a path of exploration that will create years of learning and develop friendships with new wines that you will be proud to serve to your friends and guests.
